Magnific Relight

Magnific Relight

So, what’s Magnific Relight? It’s a new Magnific spell that allows you to change the entire lighting of a scene and, optionally, the background with just a prompt or a reference image or a light map (drawing your own lights).

Setting the light just with a prompt? Yes! Just with a prompt. Example: “A beautiful Australian shepherd under the water, like the Little Mermaid.” Et voila! Light, caustics, shadows, color grading… Everything done automagically in 15 seconds:

And it works for illustrations too! Tip: change Engine to “Illusio”, it works like a charm for drawings!

Using Reference Image in Magnific Relight

Transferring the light with a reference image. The dream of every cinematographer: imagine being able to mimic the lights, shadows, and colors of one scene and transferring them to another while keeping the original materials. Well, now it’s possible!

Transferring the light with a reference image

And it’s so easy! I didn’t even write a prompt for this one. I just used the Reference Image and chose the “Brighter” style. It’s nuts! What a time to be alive!

Transferring the light with a light map. Magnific is a tool for professionals. So, Relight wouldn’t be complete if we hadn’t given you the ability to paint your own lights! You can use a light map to specify exactly where you want your lights, their shape, color, and any other characteristics. This is incredibly powerful!

Parameters used:

  • “Marble statue, clean light ray, volumetric light”
  • Light transfer strength: 35%
  • Styler: “Darker”
  • Engine: “Hard transform”

Light maps are a bit more tricky to master! Only for advanced users.

Applying custom lights

As you can imagen, light maps option is extremely powerful. And it has been the most challenging tool to fine-tune in this new spell, Relight. I think lot of photographers, artists and designers are going to be very happy with this one. But only a few will use it correctly:)

And these 3 main features are what make the brand new Magnific Relight! But wait, there are more things you can do:

  • Control the amount of lighting transfer with the “Light transfer strength” slider.
  • Change the background of any image or keep it as is.
  • Fine-tune Whites, Blacks, Brightness, and more in advanced settings.
  • Explore different styles and presets to mix and match.
  • Advanced users can use “Interpolate from original” to create animations with light transitions.

The only limit is your imagination, it’s that simple! Are you starting to understand the implications of this tech? Do you feel the tingles of power at your fingertips?
